It's time for a Zwift Hammerfest!
Before you race, make sure you double-triple check the following items. They will help you have the best experience!
1. Did you link your Strava account?
Currently, registering for the race and linking your strava account are two separate steps. We will fix this in the near future, but for now, you need to go to http://app.hammerfest.bike and click the Connect with Strava button so that your race results can be pulled from Strava.
2. Review the stage start and end times
Make sure that you have visited the race page, and have a complete understanding of the stage start and end times and dates in your local timezone. All times are currently centered on Eastern Daylight Time (GMT-4), Boston, Massachusetts, USA because that is where Hammerfest is currently located. Please use a timezone tool to calculate the open and close times and dates for your local timezone.
3. Know the stage segments
For each stage, make sure you understand the start and end points of all the segments that will make up the stage result. Ideally, you should ride the segment as a warm up lap before you lay down your final time. Hammerfest will pull your fastest times for any qualified segment. So you can easily scout it out before hand, then ride it at speed for your result.
If you don't have time to ride all the segments/courses in advance, try looking for the rides on Youtube. There are plenty of Zwift rides that will allow you to see the courses and understand where the stages start and stop.

4. Check your sensors
Make sure your speed & cadence sensors, or your power meter have new or recent batteries. Losing signal during an attempt or getting intermittent drops can be frustrating. Also make sure you use as many sensors as you have. Ideally, everyone should ride with a heart rate (HR) monitor so there can be no question about the level of suffering you are under.
5. Check your measurements
Be sure to set up the correct measures in the various pieces of software that calculate your results. It is the responsible thing to do when competing against others:
- Go to the Zwift dashboard, edit your profile, and make sure that Zwift has your accurate Gender, Weight, and Height.
- Go to your performance settings in Strava and make sure you have HR zones, and FTP filled in if you can.
- Go to your profile in Strava and make sure you have Birthday (age), Gender, and weight filled out correctly.
6. Join the Facebook page!
Some communication will happen via email updates, but plenty of small updates and race progress will be communicated through the Hammerfest facebook page. Please join so you are in the know on any developments. Also, don't hesitate to email info@hammerfest.bike with any questions.
